North Carolina Beach Wedding in Wilmington & Ocean Isle

Jenna and Kevin were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wilmington, North Carolina last June.  They held a North Carolina beachfront reception at The Isles Restaurant in Ocean Isles, North Carolina.  The bride envisioned and planned an elegant ceremony coupled with a relaxed, beach-themed reception.

The decorations at the church were kept to a minimum and the reasoning is clear to see upon entering St. Mary’s doors.  The cathedral ceilings and intricate design detail will literally take your breath away.  After saying “I Do” in front of their family and friends, the wedding party moved locations from Wilmington to Ocean Isle Beach to celebrate throughout the evening.

Using a color palette of blue, lime green and white, the couple themed the reception around the location.  The theme was carried into every detail including fresh and colorful linens, starfish place cards, a steel drum performer and hanging paper lanterns.  Positioned directly on the beach, the Isles Restaurant provided the ideal venue for a beach wedding reception.  Not to mention, gorgeous scenery for some amazing pictures of the bride and groom.  Seriously, check out the stunning shots taken by Eric von Bargen Photography!

Jenna enlisted Orangerie Events to assist with coordinating and facilitating the details of the weekend of their beach wedding.  Orangerie Events, along with Hice Photography, provided a quirky “do-it-yourself” photo booth that allowed the guests to dress up in goofy attire, hold props and have their pictures taken.  Even at our initial consultation, I could tell Jenna was a free-spirited and genuinely fun individual.  After meeting Kevin, it was easy to see that they were a perfect pair and shared those characteristics.  Those personality traits were easily reflected through their wedding and reception and there was no shortage of fun as the guests partied the night away.

Black & White Damask Wedding at The Highgrove Estate

Erica and Wes were married at the Highgrove Estate on Laurel Lake in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina on May 29, 2010.  As East Carolina University fans, their wedding colors were inspired by the school colors.  Everything about this wedding screamed elegance.  Watching the water-front wedding ceremony, it was undeniable that these two were meant for each other.  Not even a slight rainy drizzle could dampen the romance.

The bride and groom did an amazing job of tying together a black and white damask wedding theme, accented by purple, throughout their entire wedding ceremony and reception.  The theme began with custom designed Save the Dates and Invitations from emDOTzee Designs and continued through the reception with matching programs, table numbers and a seating chart.   Flowers on Broad Streetprovided a breathtaking array of floral arrangements and Greg Ramsey with Joe Bunn DJ Companykept the guests, young and old, on the dance floor for the entire evening.

In addition to a stunning  4-tier wedding cake, the groom proudly display his own cake, an ECU Pirate Ship complete with gold coins.  Both cakes were created by Sweet Memories Bakery and not only looked good, but tasted delicious.  Katy Cook Photography captured each detail from start to finish.  (Side note – How much do you love Katy’s antique pink chair she used as a prop for Erica and Wes? Gorgeous!)

Not only did I have the opportunity to get to know Erica and Wes, but my involvement gave the opportunity to work closely with Erica’s family.  I enjoyed every minute of my time spent getting to know the entire clan and sharing in such a special day for Erica and Wes!

A huge thank you to Katy Cook for these fabulous pictures!
